Calling all Moms!!!!

Anyone interested in doing a little social experiment?

I have been contacted by the Steve Harvey Show (I love that Guy!!) and they are looking to feature a story about...yup you guessed it, my Mommy Strike.

The show airs out of Chicago and although moms and families in that area would be ideal, they would love any of you fabulous readers to take the challenge of a Mom Strike, document it and then come on the show with your family.

I'm  thinking if you live in England or Australia they probably won't fly you out. But especially to any USA mom's out there reading...are you willing to give it a shot?

If I can do it, so can you. I'll even bring ya a bottle of wine.

If you are interested please contact Patrick at:

patrick.hester@steveharveytv.com

If you are up for the challenge please also email me at crazymomopq@gmail.com as I would love to connect with you.

I double dog dare you.

Please do a sister a favour and share this on your Facebook/Twitter/Pinterest.

    2. Hi,
      They did call me.

I am all for going on strike . . . . but not this close to Christmas. Like you, I have some control issues over the holidays :-) The stress of the mess this side of Christmas would push me over into the dark side. I hover there on the best of days. There is not enough red wine in Ontario to help me make it to Jan 1st.

I will look forward to watching you on the show though.
      Cheers and Merry Christmas

  3. I've been thinking about going on a mommy strike. Like you I've taught my childrent to help out around the house and clean up after themselve. But life has gotten in the way and I feel like I'm doing more and more work and nagging.

    1. It's the nagging!! I get it..when life is so busy the forgotten just falls on us. My girls al know HOW to clean and take care of things around here....but show me a teenager that does it with a smile and no nagging required...

  5. I thought about it for about 30 seconds...about the time I was envisioning the hazmat crew that would be needed to clean up after these pigs, I decided I couldn't do it to myself again...

***Memories (more like nightmares) come to me***

A long long time ago, I went away for four days. When I came home, the liter boxes hadn't been touched. I almost died when I walked through the door and the smell hit me. The dishes hadn't been done and there was mold growing in my sink...

My husband looked at me and said "I was going to do that later...I didn't expect you home so early."...I nearly killed him!

There were bags and bags of trash laying around, my toddlers hadn't been bathed (or had their hair combed), and I had just finished a four day streak of working twelve to fifteen hour days outside in 100 degree weather.

Somehow, in four days, there were six loads of laundry from my one husband and two little toddlers...four loads of dishes (every dish in the house), and it took me almost ten hours of straight cleaning to get it put back in order...

***Shakes head and comes back to the present***

While I applaud your courage, I can't even begin to imagine the strength it took to NOT clean up! I don't think I could do it if I was present the whole time....

    1. The first time I went away it was a wee bit sketchy when I got home. I think Dylan was afraid...needless to say it's in tip top shape whenever I travel now. But I am pretty sure it's a last minute clean as the plane is landing.

  9. My husband and I went on strike yesterday!! After finding inspiration in your blog, I said "She is my hero, I want to be just like her." I am not worried about Christmas being right around the corner. That makes it even better for us, because all 4 boys, Yes, FOUR boys will be home from school and that is when a lot more mess is created by the "trolls". Day one was yesterday and there MAY actually be hope for them. A couple of things got done without my husband or I having to ask. Can't wait to see how long this lasts.

    2. NO. Not going on the show. I did not contact them as I just saw your post today. I will definitely keep you posted. I am rounding up other moms (and dads) to join in with me. It is ridiculous how much our kids take for granted and my husband and I have seriously had our fill of the rotten ways. I will shoot you an email.

p.s. I also have a 2yr old BOY! Five boys in the home. Vodka is my best friend. haha!

  10. I want to do this. My concern is I have littles, not just preteens/teens. Plus stepkids every other weekend. I can solve that by doing it while they're gone. (Not going to try to train them out of their mother's teachings; besides, their mother is crazy and would probably call DCFS/CPS on me if I did it while they were here.) But which ones can this be applied to? (almost) 11, 9, 7, 4 and 1. Obviously the 1yo is exempt, but the others? How do I do it?
