Taking Time....for YOU!

My life seems to be settling a bit.

This week was spent catching up with work, school forms, sports and laundry. Oh the laundry. We need a laundry fairy. Some may think that my girls should be doing this for themselves...zip it. It's my control issues. First, I can't afford the machine to be going for one pair of jeans or the cost of new clothes as a result of whites mixed with colours. Dylan probably wouldn't like pink shirts for work, although I would laugh for sure. Second, I am weird about my laundry...certain things are hung to dry, others laid flat or jeans inside out. No one wants to see Super Blogger Mommy go all Bad Ass Laundry Evil Villain. I would have to trade my cape for horns.

Although this "15" minutes has seemed like the LONGEST "15" minutes ever...in fact 30 hours of labour seemed shorter, I do believe life is returning to normal. A new normal, but normal nonetheless. It has been a wonderful experience and I don't regret a second of it...well the UK interviews were a little hard due to the time change, but I loved it.  My inside voice has had a British accent all week. I am still doing a few interviews here and there (as you do), but over this weekend I want to take the time to go through each comment on my blog and respond personally.

Some of your comments have made me laugh so hard I actually spit wine. I blame you for the wine crimes :) I should figure out a way to send you all the bill for the cleaning or send you my address for wine replacement. Some of you have touched my heart and sent me messages right when I needed your words of encouragement. Some have asked quirky questions that I would love to answer!!

There are a lot to get through, but it is important to me!! Happy reading...this will be fun!

xoxo

  1. Wine plays a big role in your life, doesn't it? You need to check out Niagara's wine mecca, Niagara-on-the-Lake; you'd be in Heaven!
In case you're wondering, I'm from Niagara Falls and we know a thing or two about your beverage of choice down here...

    1. Dear Youvebeenhooked,
I quite enjoy Jessica's blog and responses but am having troubles appreciating your repetitive comments. Please kindly leave the playground and take your ball with you. When Jessica's well-rounded, society-improving, well-educated, adult children go on to great things concerning parenting and social issues just like their mother - thank them for advice. Please no more.

    3. We can only hope! I have to remember that life is a marathon and not a sprint.
As for my comments looping, I actually think they've evolved. Why do you think they're still up here?
I mean, Jessica does like her wine, doesn't she? And Niagara-on-the-Lake was made for wine lovers, believe me!

    4. Hook, while the passive aggressiveness in the first sentence of your comment is not lost on me..I promised I would respond to readers comments and I don't find this one terribly offensive.
I do enjoy my red wine...obviously:) It's super yummy!!!!
Dylan and I are huge supporters of Canadian Wineries. We actually have a bottle of wine saved from our wedding night from the Niagara Peninsula! One day we will crack it open for an extra special occasion.
I would love to do a wine tour of Niagara!! am originally from the East and I think it's beautiful country!!
      Thanks for thinking of me;)

  3. First, I can't afford the machine to be going for one pair of jeans or the cost of new clothes as a result of whites mixed with colours. I am so with you on this... Before we even got married, I made my future husband to be, promise he would not wash any clothes, as I remember vividly the pink and white shirt he ended up with once. I contemplated putting it in our wedding vows, but dismissed that, as it might turn round and bite me one later on.

After 21 years of marriage, he has never once sorted or put any washing on, but hung out, taken in, folded and even ironed.

  5. Your experience has reached a spanish newspaper, I'll leave the link here (if you know spanish): http://www.abc.es/20121029/familia-padres-hijos/abci-madre-canadiense-gana-huelga-201210291144.html
Personally, I think it's a swell idea and I might use it too...eventually. Cheers.

  6. I "woke up to you" in Bristol UK on a day last week when you were being interviewed by John Humphrys on BBC Radio 4 at about 7.15 a.m. or so, and even in my bleary eyed state I thought "poor woman, it must be the middle of the night for her". I have no children, and wish 'the treatment' would work on my partner - but sadly he doesn't much care how untidy the house is... I've much enjoyed your idea and how it's taken off.

  8. Your story has also reached at least one Spanish newspaper in the Caribbean... I've been reading your blog for the last couple of hours. Funny stuff. I love how you have just the tiniest touch of snarkiness, without overdoing it. Not so easy to do!
